Matisse inspired collages - 4th

4th graders spent the past few weeks learning about Henri Matisse and the cut paper artwork he created later in his life. They brainstormed different events, places, people, and things that make them happy or bring them joy. Nature, swimming, the carnival and baseball were just some of the themes they came up with. Then they were to create collages in the style of Matisse, by 'drawing' with their scissors and using lots of color and movement in their compositions. This is a great project for your bins of scrap paper, as this is all I had to put out for them to use! Bravo 4th grade!
