This was a project I helped out with for the spring gala, the annual fundraiser at St. Ignatius. I think it turned out rather nice!
All of the students traced their hands on grid paper. Then they colored them in with colored pencils by shading only one half of each square. They drew a diagonal line in each square and filled in the bottom portion. This was actually a great project for 3rd graders because it was challenging enough and required attention to detail and concentration. A mother of one of the children in the class finished the project by arranging the hands in a frame and created the blue background using the same method as I described above, inserting the poem and framing it.
